Detection prediction and mapping of Chromium through QGIS and adsorption of hexavalent Chromium by modified bio-adsorbents: kinetic and adsorption study

Toxicity due to the presence of heavy metals in ground and surface water release effluents from industries holds potency cause temporary or permanent damage living organisms near vicinity these industries. This paper aims assess vulnerability groundwater resources owing its contamination Banthar Industrial Area. Using DRASTIC model combination with quantum geographic information system (QGIS), a map was developed, which indicated that dispersal chromium range 300–1000 μg/l. In order study impact dispersion, authors proposed batch adsorption testing hexavalent (Cr(VI)) using different bio-adsorbent materials, keeping pH 3–9 contact time between 0 80 min. Adsorption isotherms kinetic studies were also considered. All adsorbents followed Langmuir isotherm (R2 > 0.986), whereas Temkin stated affinity for Cr(VI). The reactions bio-adsorbents found follow pseudo-second-order kinetics, exothermic. results modification caused an enhancement percent Cr(VI) comparison natural available bio-adsorbents.
